Experience a day with Yannick, our Technical Product Manager
Start Yannick's day with some family time and a good AI-podcast – and you’re setting him up for success. Yannick is the technical architect that helps shape the FTI products. With a passion for AI and a secret love for hardcore music, he brings a lot of technical experience and a realistic perspective to the team.
My day does not start with a rush, but with a routine that’s all about family. Early in the morning, I'm up making breakfast for my two-and-a-half-year-old son and getting him ready for daycare. Once he’s dropped off, I head to our office in Ghent. I’m not much of a remote worker. There’s something about being in the same space as my colleagues that energizes me for the day ahead.
Once at the office, I grab a big bottle of water, scan my emails and check our Jira board before our daily stand‑up. As Technical Product Manager, I help design our products and plan the architecture that underpins them. That means juggling the need for flexible integrations while protecting existing flows, reviewing pull requests, coordinating with engineers and designers, and always looking ahead to what’s next.
What I love most about my role is that it keeps my brain buzzing. It’s the problem-solving, the innovation, and the teamwork that make my job deeply rewarding. I'm the kind of person that thrives on those technical puzzles and the collaborative brainstorming sessions that lead to innovative solutions.
The most challenging part of my role is the pace of AI. The models we use today might be obsolete tomorrow, so staying up to speed is non‑negotiable. It’s my job to make sure we’re adopting the right technology, keeping data anonymous, and never stopping that learning curve. It can be intense, but that’s also what makes it so thrilling. My best friend and I have a motto: “never stop learning,” and I truly live by it.
My ideal workday mixes deep focus with collaboration. I enjoy alternating between designing system architecture or debugging a tricky integration and then bouncing ideas around with colleagues. Seeing an idea evolve into something tangible over the course of a day is incredibly satisfying. I’m happiest when I can be in the office to experience that energy firsthand.
One of my proudest moments this year was when we launched Elli. Together with the team, we delivered the first version of the product on time – and AI was right there with us, helping us prototype, iterate and move quickly. Those moments when teamwork and technology align are the reason I love what I do.
After my workday, I’m still a bit of a tech nerd. On my commute I’ll listen to AI-podcasts or unwind with some hardcore music. When I have free time, you’ll find me tinkering with 3D printers and home‑automation projects. Twice a week I train at the gym, and I always prioritize family time. With a little one at home and another baby on the way, balance matters to me. For me, innovation and family life aren’t separate – they both fuel my passion and keep things interesting.
In the end, a day in my life is all about blending innovation, learning, family, and a little bit of hardcore music to keep things interesting.
